Our Story

We are a Canadian company that is proud to be supporting the local communities in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa.

We work with local artisan tailors, local fabric producers and suppliers, and love collaborating with organizations pushing worthwhile causes.

Our mission is to continually grow & create influential goods, promoting compassion & respect, while impacting the communities in which we work.

Our products are skillfully hand crafted using locally sourced fabric.

Although a small company, we provide employment and fair wages for all who contribute to our operation.

We are very conscious about minimizing our environmental impact on our planet, where possible we source second hand fabric known locally as “junks”,  we  also try our best to make use of all scrap fabric and the un-used portion is donated to local craftsmen who re-purpose these scraps in to rugs, jewellery, etc.

The organizations that we have worked with are:

The Sierra Leone Animal Welfare Society (SLAWS): SLAWS aims to reduce the number of rabid animals and strays in the communities while also promoting the humane treatment of animals. The Green Giraffe has partnered with SLAWS through our “Jogs for Dogs” donations where part the of the proceeds from jogger sales go directly to SLAWS.

WAYout Arts: a not-for-profit company focused on getting youth off the streets though arts.

Goods purchased from The Green Giraffe in its own small way makes a difference in communities throughout Sierra Leone.
